Yummy Santa Tested Candy
Pull Taffy
Needs 12" x 9" pan
1
cup molasses
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. vinegar
2 Tbs. butter
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Watkins Baking Powder
Butter
pan. Measure molasses, sugar, vinegar into large sauce pan. Stir & cook until candy
thermometer reaches 260o. Take pan from stove. Add butter, salt & baking
soda. Mixture will foam. Stir until it stops. Pour into buttered pan & cool. Wash
hands. Butter plate & hand. Pull & Push. Pull & fold back until satiny -
impossible to pull. Give one last pull, twist like rope. Cut with hot scissors.
* Mrs. Santa only uses Watkins
Baking Powder because it contains no aluminum.
